Roger Frost's courses run at schools, colleges and teacher’s centres - at the request of a head of science, or deputy head. Others are run for education authorities or training providers in a hotel or teacher's centre.

You can buy into any amount of support but what counts is what suits. For example:

  • An after school awareness raising meeting + one training day
  • One training day with subsequent meetings on a self-help basic
  • Two training days with two weeks between them
  • Three training days spread over three terms
  • Five after school events spread over one term
  • One day a week of in-class support, charged at a special rate, lasting one term

School INSET takes any shape but we often run sessions such as those below. Each lasts 2-3 hours, but most can bend to suit the local need. Either way, we will assemble a programme to suit your work, expertise and resources.

1: Data logging – hands-on to make it work in your teaching; tips for success; explore our lesson ideas to find examples that suit your curriculum.

2: Data logging II – select three to six examples from our menu of tried and prized experiments and lessons.

3: Data logging III – data analysis. We show how to use the data analysis tools in software; you practise the skills using our bank of lesson worksheets and data for pupils aged 14+.

4: Software for science
– see and try simulations, models and software tools for college, middle or high school level.

5: Hands-on data logging for the primary school
- the curriculum; making it work; curriculum activity to try.

6: Organic Chemistry - multimedia
Hands-on with Roger Frost's Organic Chemistry

Whatever the topic, we have exemplar lessons you can use or adapt. For a typical day on data logging you need little more than one computer between two staff plus any sensor kits you may have. To make setting up as straightforward as possible, we supply a list of chemicals and apparatus to suit the chosen experiments. As required, we supplement your sensors with our own set. We can bring laptops, software and chemicals to minimise your preparation time. For larger events, through our partners, we can also find venues, take bookings and arrange accomodation.

All training days tend to include a discussion element where we help you develop a plan of action. If you plan to buy IT resources, we offer impartial advice and can bring equipment you would like to see.

Our training day rate is around £450 according to eg how many days, how much we bring, how many staff and how local you are. It's best to telephone or you can email as best suits. For a diary with current projects, or handy ways to contact us please see the pages nearby.
